Let's talk about how to effectively use items. When you pick up an item (with your attack button), it will appear in your franchise emblem, above your damage counter. Quite fancy, huh?
I'm equipped with the Star Rod!
Once you're tired of an item, or you've used up everything it has to offer, you can get rid of it with your "Throw" button (or shield and attack). Hold any direction and the item thrown will match the angle, you can throw items in 8 directions. Remember, some items work just as well as throwing weapons as they do as battering weapons!
For the first time ever, throw items diagonally!
There is no restriction on when items can be grabbed in this game, you can pick up an item while doing any kind of move. This speeds up any battle, and it'll come in handy for sure.

You might be wondering where the items go when you pick them up. Let's just call it "summoning" your item, shall we?
